Kernel PIE Save
PIE Save is a tax-efficient way to save and get your on-call cash working harder for you.
Tax is capped at 28%, so you keep more of what you earn. The effective rate shows what an ordinary savings account would need to pay to match it. The higher your tax rate, the further ahead you are.
| Personal tax rate | Effective rate* |
|---|---|
| 10.5% | 2.75% |
| 17.5% | 2.75% |
| 30% | 2.83% |
| 33% | 2.96% |
| 39% | 3.25% |
*Effective rate: this is the rate that an ordinary savings account would need to pay, taxed at your income rate, to give you the same after-tax return.

Your questions, answered
Simply deposit money into your Kernel account wallet and once it’s cleared, you can transfer the money to Kernel Savings products.
Money in Kernel’s Savings products is held by Kernel’s custodian, Adminis, and with a NZ registered, RBNZ regulated, -AA credit rated bank. While bank defaults are possible, capital adequacy requirements make this very unlikely. Kernel Save is also protected by the Deposit Compensation Scheme (DCS).
Anyone that has a verified, active Kernel account can start using Kernel Savings products through their dashboard.
